News
Right Eminent Robert Ohman passed away the morning of April 23, 2011.

Bob was Master of Ocean View Lodge #335 in 1986, a member of Kempsville Lodge, Past Grand Commander of Knights Templar of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason from the Valley of Norfolk. To be honest Bob had more degrees than a thermometer and more titles than one could hope to remember. Bob exemplified Masonry in all that he did. In short he lived respected and died regretted.

There will be a viewing, Tuesday, April 26, in the Chapel at Hollomon Brown on Tidewater Drive. Masonic Rites will be performed at 1800 (6:00 p.m.) by the funeral committee. The funeral service will be held at Saint Timothy Lutheran Church in Norfolk. (1051 Kempsville Rd Norfolk, VA 23502 (757) 461-3931) at 0900 Wednesday morning. Military honors will be performed at Rosewood Cemetery on Witchduck a 1000. There will be no Knight Templar funeral service performed.

Portsmouth Commandery No. 5(external link) hosted the conferral of the Orders of Knighthood. Almost all the work was conferred from memory; much for the first time. By an order from Portsmouth's commander, Sir Knight Benjamin F. Hill Portsmouth's director of work, Sir Knight F. Byron Goodwin, KYCH, assembled the casts, regalia, parphenalia, and practices for a very sucessful conferral.

MAHOVA Day parade

News
Yesterday, after the MAHOVA Day parade, EPDDGC Tom Grove (Richmond No. 2) was in an automobile accident near his home in Richmond's West End. His car was totaled, but he escaped with a couple of bumps on his head and some bruises. When he didn't show up at church this morning, I called to check on him. He was home and resting up. Tom is 90 and usually plays golf with REPGC Gordon Morrow every Tuesday, weather permitting. He's simply amazing!

Tom was in full uniform yesterday, though he did not march this year. All too many of our younger, healthier SKs did not show up. We did, however, have a respectful muster. Special thanks go out to our EGJW, Bill Reinhold, who called cadence in an impressive manner. Also, our EGSB, Malcolm Holley, carried our Standard very proudly, despite his leg problem. He was flanked by an unprecedented TWO VE Deputy Grand Commanders (VA and DC).
